The first time I heard Orion dj, it was my last nite in Austin before relocating to Houston (2007). He was sharing a 2x4 set w/ ??? at a totally renegade party right near downtown. We were outside, in the middle of the city jammin the f@#k out to ghetto-tech til 6 am, with a dood selling LoneStar tall-boys out of his cooler. It was awesome.
Orion is a fantastic DJ~ In addition, the edits below are sexy club versions of a couple of excellent salsa and cumbia songs.
I'm also highlighting his kick ass drum track "Hits From the Bongo Part 1. Check it, 3 rows down at 6 o'clock.
POSR “Cocaine Nose Job”
Although I may be a little, well a lot biased, I must say that I'm loving POSR more and more every day. Yes, I work for the record label putting their music out, Tierra Studios and yes, Jake Childs (main man behind POSR) is one of my good friends. But, I love it when I hear music and I dig it more and more after weeks of listening.
POSR's debut album Known Unknown will be released later this spring digitally, CD and the singles will be on limited, color vinyl. Yummy.
"Cocaine Nose Job" is the first single, and we're proud to feature remixes from Larry Tee & Alexander Technique. To hear and buy their remix, go here. Lee Mortimer and Laidback Luke “Blau!” – LA Riots Remix
Man, this track is GUARANTEED to make the floor go nuts. I dropped it last week as well on the main floor @ Rich's - A couple years ago, I would have edited out the trancy breakdown. But now I'm really into trancy sounds... It's so nutz how my taste in music can change...I used to despise trance. Now, I'm open to it...in fact, I am not a music snob at all anymore. Life is great.
If ya didn't notice, Laidback Luke has been on fire for minute now. Lee Mortimer is also huge name, although I haven't been into much of his stuff lately. At any rate, I love this track (this is the LA Riots Remix) and if you like it, go buy it!

Hot City “Hot City Bass”
This is 90's rave music to the max - I love it. Hot City is from the UK, and they're on myspace - other than that I don't see much from them online. I dropped this last week at Rich's (Houston) on the main floor and it was an awesome few minutes.

Nikola Gala & Jerome Sydenham “Brooklyn Rock”
This is the 1st release from the classic Ibadan Records (est. 1995, NYC) that I've bought in ages. When I think of Ibaden, I think of Kerri Chandler - that says a lot. I've been scooping up Greece's Nikola Gala's tracks for years now. This guy is one to put on your watch list. Same thing applies with Germany's Jerome Sydenham.

Yo, it's like Green Velvet week at Spettro HQ. I'm bumpin in my chair as I listen to this tune and write this post. It makes sense that the Cajual Records madman is working with Chicago's Kid Sister. The vocals are a bit dorky in my opinion, but the groove and tone of voice make up for the goofy content. Usually, any track that talks about taking someone home goes over well with all the drunk and horny people on the dancefloor. I'll test it out and report back...
Doesn't Kid Sister look hot as hell?!! Aye, mami.

Green Velvet “Flash” Timo Maas Dirty Dub
Most of you booty shakers will remember this classic cut originally released in 1995 on Yeti Records. The first round of remixes were released the same year on the famous Relief Records (Casual Records). I like to dig deep for the 90's house and techno hits, and this Timo Maas Dirty Dub is bangin! I played this one in Brasil last week and it went over very nicely. My favorite part is the laughing. "He he he, ha ha." LOL.

Bassnectar “Yo” (Speaker Junk’s Jackin Brazilian Rave Remix)
This tune was released in 2007 on the famous OM records in San Francisco...you've most likely heard this track by the wicked Bassnectar - but, I thought it would be appropriate to re-introduce it here on my site for three reasons:
1. I'm in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil right now (playing a gig in Serra Negra Saturday)
2. I included it on my latest mixtape "Dreams Come True" (recorded it Monday at home and will have it available soon)
3. I'm totally in love with this track!
