Claude VonStroke “Aundy”
Dirtybird head honcho, Claude VonStroke delivers with his signature big bass sound. This time, he couples the 808 boom with sultry melody...a deeper affair. This is track is perfect to calm the vibe a bit after bangin it out hard, without losing the dancefloor. This will appeal to the techno and house heads. Word up.

LLorca – Miamik “Back to Fundamentals”
Anytime I see Llorca's name on a track, I take a listen. And 90% of the time I buy it...this time was no different. My buddy Ryan Wardlaw turned me on to this Miamik track (not sure if Miamik is a monikor for Llorca, or if Llorca did this with Miamik?). I don't know Ryan very well, but he's proven himself to be a very knowledgeable head. Kinda rare around these parts....
Anyone NOT feeling this? I say, DAG GUM!

P’taah “Dance Until We Die” feat. Tiombe Lockhart (Kenny Dope Remix)
If you played this track for me and told me it was a Kenny Dope remix I wouldn't believe you. Does this sound like Kenny to any of you? I am by no means complaining - it's refreshing and just outright DOPE that Kenny's sound is forever evolving.

Major Lazer “When You Hear the Bassline”
There's been mad hype on the Major Lazer album "Gun's Don't Kill People, Lazers Do" for months now. I've heard a few remixes of "Hold the Line" - the Leht MoJoe remix of Drop the Lime is killer and "Call Mi" (Dave Kelley's Hold The Line Remix feat. Baby Cham) smokes fat surfer rock style guitar riffs. I have been a bit anxious for June 16 to arrive so I could peep the entire album. After hearing "When You Hear the Bassline" and the traditional reggae sounding "Can't Stop Now" I almost just bought the entire album without hearing the rest of the songs. Well, good thing I didn't! The beats on every song are amazing, but I'm not into most of dancehall vocals. Generally speaking, I'm truly inspired by this sound and have been since I've been a wee little teenager. The dancehall beat really drives my dancing feet. Even folks in Africa are doing production similar to this: Buchaman

Audio Werner “Easy Going”
Something is definitely something in the water in Germany. It seems that anyone who's making waves in techno is either from Germany, or lives there now. Andreas Werner aka Audio Werner is from Cologne and is a favorite of techno gods like Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin and for good reason.

Sagat “Fuck Dat” Raw Mix
Ahhhh, a classic. Thanks to LBO for the cut! I'm almost embarrassed that I don't remember this track or video, as it was in the Top 40 of 1993. Even my sister doesn't remember it. You can totally hear the 12 bit sampler in effect. It sounds just like my Ensoniq EPS. Yeaaaaa.
Don't let the PG video version fool ya, it's not funk that, it's FUCK DAT! So happy to have another tune in my comedy folder....

A Slice of New York in Houston
Memorial Day weekend in Houston has turned into my favorite holiday of the year. This year was dance fest 2009 for me, as I only worked Friday nite, leaving the rest of the weekend to partay...I danced for 10 hours on Saturday, and another round of 4 on Sunday. My legs were completely shredded. Now that's a great weekend.
Saturday @ The Social we had Nikodemus and Mariano from Turntables on the Hudson, with live percussion by El John from Thievery Corp. The party wasn't packed, but the vibe was thick and I certainly danced a lot. The music was amazing, and everyone there eventually got on the dancefloor. I really wish my Mom could have been there...she loves the afro-beat!
After a quick bite at The Social, I darted home for a shower and change of clothes. I had no time to waste, as it was 9:30 and the Martinez Brothers show was next up. Fully hydrated and still a bit buzzed from the Mariano and Nickodemus' set + beer drinking, I headed to La Strada for the 2 youngsters from Brooklyn. A lot was expected and they delivered the goods. I took video, but the audio is distorted so I'm not posting it here (you can find it on youtube.com/eddiespettro). To sum it up, these 2 guys (17 and 20 yrs old, or so) made everyone dance and raise their hands in the air for house. It was very refreshing to see so many people so excited about plain ole house music, the sound I love most. Thank you FluEnt, Partyfone and Lowlife for making this happen.
