Spettro @ Mansão – Serra Negra, Brasil

November 14, 2009 - at the very unique farmhouse party, Mansão, in Serra Negra, Brasil. Thanks to Leo, Rafael, Anna and the rest of the crew that made this party happen.  Check out the pics of the venue during the day and at the party here.  Or go to my facebook page here.

The audio is a bit distorted, but you'll get the idea.

Green Velvet & Kid Sister “Everybody Wants”

Yo, it's like Green Velvet week at Spettro HQ.  I'm bumpin in my chair as I listen to this tune and write this post.  It makes sense that the Cajual Records madman is working with Chicago's Kid Sister.  The vocals are a bit dorky in my opinion, but the groove and tone of voice make up for the goofy content.  Usually, any track that talks about taking someone home goes over well with all the drunk and horny people on the dancefloor.  I'll test it out and report back...

Doesn't Kid Sister look hot as hell?!!  Aye, mami.

Green Velvet “Flash” Timo Maas Dirty Dub

Most of you booty shakers will remember this classic cut originally released in 1995 on Yeti Records.  The first round of remixes were released the same year on the famous Relief Records (Casual Records).  I like to dig deep for the 90's house and techno hits, and this Timo Maas Dirty Dub is bangin!  I played this one in Brasil last week and it went over very nicely. My favorite part is the laughing. "He he he, ha ha." LOL.

Bassnectar “Yo” (Speaker Junk’s Jackin Brazilian Rave Remix)

This tune was released in 2007 on the famous OM records in San Francisco...you've most likely heard this track by the wicked Bassnectar - but, I thought it would be appropriate to re-introduce it here on my site for three reasons:

1.  I'm in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil right now (playing a gig in Serra Negra Saturday)

2.  I included it on my latest mixtape "Dreams Come True" (recorded it Monday at home and will have it available soon)

3.  I'm totally in love with this track!

16 Bit “Jump”

Last weekends dubstep gig @ Plush was off the chain! Badboy BMC rolled up to Austin with me and also threw down some sickness. My favorite dubstep track right now is "Jump" by 16 Bit. I love the old-school dub feel, combined with a 2009 nastyness. Yeeeeaaaar!

Plastilina Mosh vs. Los Amigos Invisibles with Eddie Spettro – Redbull Soundclash

The Redbull Soundclash was definitely the coolest gig I've been involved with in the past couple of years.  The Soundclash was a competition between the 2 bands, Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuela) and Plastilina Mosh aka Pmosh (Monterrey, Mexico) and was judged by crowd response (decibel meter readout was in effect).   We had El Chamo  from Univision Radio as our host and MC.

Each band warmed up playing 3 songs each. Then, they each performed a cover of  "White Horse" after I introduced the song for 15 seconds.  The next round was the clash, where Los Amigos started one of their songs, and PMosh finished it - midway through.  Each band was on a different stage facing each other....

Next, I introduced 15 seconds of a song in each of the 3 styles below, and each band performed one of their original songs in that style:

1.  Asian

2.  Reggae/Dub

3.  Metal

Check the videos!  The energy was amazing...at one point I thought I was at a Venezuela vs. Mexico futbol match!

Plastilina Mosh “Danny Trejo”

There's so many dope PMosh trax from all their albums, it's nuts.  I spent a lot of time with the band last week preparing for the Red Bull Soundclash event...I am so inspired from working with these guys.  They are so diverse and they work their ass off to sound as good as they do.  And, all members of the band are super cool!  The RedBull Soundclash event was judged by crowd response.  It was like a Mexico (PMosh) vs. Venezuela (Los Amigos Invisibles) futbol match!  It was intense!  I will post the video later for you to see for yourself.

Los Amigos Invisibles “Plastic Woman”

Last week I spent a lot of time with 2 amazing latin bands, Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuela) and Plastilina Mosh (Monterrey, Mexico) for the Red Bull Soundclash - If you're not familiar with these superbands, Los Amigos have been nominated for a Grammy (and Latin Grammy) several times, including this year.  They have worked with Masters At Work and Dimitri From Paris too!  Plastilina Mosh sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers meets Trent Reznor....both bands have been active since the mid 90's and have a huge following.

I took lots of video from our rehearsal the day before the big show - the energy with both bands in the same room was AMAZING.  I also got video from the show...I'll post it later for you.  All the members from both bands were super cool and showed how hard they work to sound so good.
