WMC 2010 Recap

WMC 2010- last time I attended was 2004....and boy, am I glad I went this year.  I made loads of great contacts, as I was pushing the Uniform Recordings upcoming releases (UNI023, Pete Dafeet "Fuzzy", UNI027, POSR "Fix") and POSR's "Cocaine Nose Job" single (out now on Beatport).

Top sets:

1.  Groove Armada.  Holy chihuahas, I accidentally heard this amazing DJ duo two nites in a row, once at the OM party and then again the following night at Space.  Groove Armada are now my favorite DJ's....they took me on a JOURNEY.

2.  Chus & Ceballos - Saturday morning at Space, on the terrace.  I danced 14 hours straight at this venue, in the Techno loft and the terrace (including the nite before).  These guys were smiling the entire time and played the most amazing tribal and tech-house I've ever heard.  I swear to you, I left my body.

SXSW 2010 Recap

I scrambled to the hills of ATX at the drop of a dime, as I was not planning on going this year.  I attended with a Tierra Studios and Uniform Recordings button on each of side of my shirt, pencil in ear, portable on the spot cd duplicator, comfortable shoes and my rarely charged cell phone.

Top acts for me were Reid Speed, POSR, Kids At The Bar, Database TraxWolfgang Gartner, Le Castle Vania, Felix Cartal, LA Riots, Nick Catchdubs, Lil Mo & The Monicats.  Reid Speed especially inspired me with her technical skill, great stage presence, and her ability to switch genres gracefully.  She was killin it like haven't seen in a minute.

Although I was frustrated with the music overall on the day I attended Carniville by Mad Decent & I Heart Comics (Day 2 of 3), my pick for the best venue easily goes to the Mexican-American Cultural Center.  The Diplo and Frankie Chan crews had a Zero Gravity machine, sledge hammer meter, a slide and some other carnival ride I wouldn't get on, but hey, this place was awesome.  Oh yea, and the sound system was sweeeeet~

POSR “Cocaine Nose Job”

Although I may be a little, well a lot biased, I must say that I'm loving POSR more and more every day.  Yes, I work for the record label putting their music out, Tierra Studios and yes, Jake Childs (main man behind POSR) is one of my good friends.  But, I love it when I hear music and I dig it more and more after weeks of listening.

POSR's debut album Known Unknown will be released later this spring digitally, CD and the singles will be on limited, color vinyl.  Yummy.

"Cocaine Nose Job" is the first single, and we're proud to feature remixes from Larry Tee & Alexander Technique.  To hear and buy their remix, go here.  We also have remixes from Houston's DJ 0045 & Fixture as well as Hearsay.  This single will be out on beatport (Uniform Recordings, UNI.26) on Feb. 19, but for now you can buy it and the remix parts at the POSR music store .
